NBA 2k8 is way better than NBA live for numerous reasons. The graphics are better, the gameplay is better, and in nba live the screen focuses on places that make it harder to play. (that last part might sound a little confusing, I didnt know how to put it.)
There used to be an online website a few years back where one could play any NBA team in a seven game series from any era -- e.g. you could pit the 95-96 Bulls that won 72 games against, say, the 86 Celtics that won 67.
It was on a website and not in a video game.

i prefer nba live but if u have no loyalty to either/any of the games, i would go with 2k8.....rent it first.....i have a ps3 and have played all the demos.....nba live has gotten rid of the superstar icons this year but the game i think is going to be more realistic, nba 08 looks good too......i think if your undecided go with 2k8 , theres more people who play online and the game is easier and less complicated than live, but the best video game ballers play live....end of story

I'd say go with live 08. i think 2k8 is a bit complicated so you will need to practice a lot to get used to it plus if your renting and you've already played live 08 and your used to it then, go with live 08 for sure.... you dont want to waste your time right?

I am an away fan of the Dallas Mavericks attending the Wizards vs the Mavs in DC. This is my first time going to an NBA game in the states and I want to know how the atmosphere is towards the opponent's fans. In England during soccer matches it was pretty hostile for away fans but we were like thousands clustered together so the impact wasn't felt that much. Well advice me on the formal and informal codes of conducts at NBA games especially for the traveling fans.

You'll be just fine. It's not hostile really at all and if it is, it's usually in fun and not serious. Feel free to wear whatever you want and to cheer for whoever you want. You will be safe and really have nothing to worry about. Soccer matches around the world are MUCH more dangerous and hostile than NBA basketball...or any American sport, really. You will never hear racist chants or have whole sections of white Nazis here in the US like you get at soccer matches in parts of Europe...we are more into friendly competition.

Quit hating Kobe. It's the 2nd highest out of over 6,000,000 individual games. The Mavs and Bears came in second out of 30 to 32 teams. That makes the number of people beaten... With the way the NBA runs today, it's impossible for anyone to score that many points unless it was a deliberate plan. The only way someone can score that many points is if the coach orders the entire team to give him every shot. This kind of thing DOES NOT happen naturally. And considering what kind of guy Phil Jackson is, I'm positive that's exactly what he did. So scoring 81 was not really Kobe's accomplishment, it was a team accomplishment.
Wilt's 100 may have been a different story. The entire season he'd been putting up scores in the 60s and 70s. It's possible that his teammates wanted to see if he could break 100, and helped set him up for that by choice. I don't know for sure.

I would love to see a street ball game played in downtown New York or something. It will be an interesting experiment, but because of the way they will end up setting up the game and marketing it, it will be lackluster compared to the NHL outdoor games which are phenomenal. It will end up being all media hype instead of an attempt to take the game back to the street level. The NHL game had to be set inside a stadium. While it would be awesome to see a game played on a frozen lake, how would Gary Buttman make money if there werent any seats?

Edit: After Googling and reading the press release, it sounds like that are essentially playing a game on a roofless stadium which is kind of a letdown. In fact the whole idea of a suite-lined tennis court seems to lose some of the glitz to this game for me. I was hoping for something more urban I suppose.

The best seats for viewing are at mid-court so he can see the action at both ends of the floor. The best level is about 10 rows up from the floor (varies by stadium) so that your seats are at eye level with the rim of the basket. Those will probably cost you more than you want to spend if they are not all taken by season ticket holders. You will have to go higher up to spend less money, but try to get as close to mid-court as possible.

it is a hundred times better to sit on the half court line preferably on the second level or about 15 rows up from floor. They shouldn't cost too much on the second level. Hope this helps.

Got freebies from work and got a great dinner before the game. Got great seats and since I'm in SLC, (yuck, I'm a Chicago girl), I saw the Jazz play Phoenix. I love the Jazz but also love Steve Nash and was hoping someone would push him out of bounds on to my lap. (I was praying that wouldn't happen with a big meaty center.) Didn't happen though, but the whole game went by too fast, and I was amazed by all the noise and energy. Jazz won, and my only regret was that I wasn't close enough to either of the teams to hear them talking.

I would love to see a street ball game played in downtown New York or something. It will be an interesting experiment, but because of the way they will end up setting up the game and marketing it, it will be lackluster compared to the NHL outdoor games which are phenomenal. It will end up being all media hype instead of an attempt to take the game back to the street level. The NHL game had to be set inside a stadium. While it would be awesome to see a game played on a frozen lake, how would Gary Buttman make money if there werent any seats?

The addition of the 20 sec timeout and a larger number of tv timeouts is a huge difference compared to the 80s. there are way too many stopages and I believe it has comtributed to the decrease in viewers for basketball. The last five minutes takes a half hour to play. Everybody waits and just tunes in for the last minute of the game. Hope this helps.....
